New York Comic Con has the ideal event for fans of Marvel's hip-hop cover variants: a signing session dedicated to the artists who crafted the literal “cover” versions of classic hip-hop album artwork.
The signing is set to take place on Saturday October 8, at 12pm at the Marvel Booth (#1354) and will feature Tim Bradstreet, Mark Brooks, Natacha Bustos, Cliff Chiang, Shawn Crystal, Juan Doe, Adi Granov, Keron Grant, Sanford Greene, Brittany Holloway-Brown, Adam Hughes, Alex Maleev, Ricardo Lopez Ortiz, Khary Randolph, Damion Scott and Brian Stelfreeze.
An exclusive hip-hop covers poster, spotlighting some of the iconic variant covers, will also be available.

Marvel has been commissioning various artists to produce a range of hip-hop-inspired variant covers since 2015, and while the move has proven controversial with some sections of fandom, provoking some strong criticism of the lack of racial diversity in comics, there is little question of the appeal of the variant covers themselves.
Commenting on the event, Marvel's Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said: “The hip-hop variant covers [are] Marvel's humble holler back to an art form that influences so many of us… This massive signing offers you a chance to meet the artists themselves.”
