Marvel Artist Will Sliney Releases How to Draw App

Marvel Artist Will Sliney Releases How to Draw App

Becoming a comic book artist is hard. It takes years of training and dedication to master the techniques used by the professionals. However, thanks to one of those very pros, you can start your journey by learning how to draw with a little help from Will Sliney and his brother Aidan. They have released a new app for Android phones that will start you down the right path, by teaching you how to handle the curves of the human body.

The Learn How to Draw App is free to download, and will feature tutorials for every level of artist. The majority of those tutorials will available at no additional cost, and the pair have promised not to charge for any beginner-level tutorial. There will be a nominal charge for the more advanced lessons. Currently, the app is only available on Android, but an iOS version is in the works.

The goal of the app, according to Sliney, is to continue the spirit of collaboration within the comics industry. Sliney is best known as the artist for “Spider-Man 2099”, in addition to several other projects for Marvel, along with his own creator-owned titles. Stating that feedback from industry veterans during his early years as illustrator was vital to his success, Sliney says his goal is to combine useful advice with modern technology. New tutorials will be released each Monday, appeasing those who crave new and challenging content.

Assisting in the launch is his brother Aidan. The more tech-savy of the two, he was one of the founders of the music capturing software Soundwave. His knowledge of applications and the teleology behind-the-scenes was vital in creating the Learn How to Draw app. He ensured the app would be optimized for all screen sizes, from phones to tablets. After Soundwave was sold to Spotify this past January, the brothers decided to combine their two passions.

Their future plans involve bringing in additional top artists, giving people the opportunity to learn various styles of drawing. They also have plans to release the footage of the models they film using slow motion cameras, allowing users even more in-depth accuracy on the anatomy of the human body.
