On Elizabeth Holloway Marston, And Telling The Truth About Wonder Woman
This past Saturday, February 20th, would have been the 123rd birthday of Elizabeth Holloway Marston. Shes not exactly what youd call famous, but youve probably guessed who she is from the headline and illustration above.
Elizabeth Holloway Marston was a psychologist, and the wife of fellow psychologist William Moulton Marston, whos credited with creating Wonder Woman. At least, she was one of his wives, depending on how you look at it. She was his legal wife, to be sure, but the two lived with a third partner, Olive Byrne, and each woman bore two of Marstons children.

The Milestone: Remembering Dwayne McDuffie's Legacy and Influence
After years of working in a comic book industry managed by a majority of white editors and publishers, and dominated by white creators, Dwayne McDuffie decided to start his own company, Milestone Media. Along with his co-founders, Denys Cowan, Michael Davis, and Derek T. Dingle, McDuffie created unique and characters of color who remain cherished to this day.
February 20th marks the anniversary of McDuffie's birth in 1962, and February 21st unfortunately marks the anniversary of his untimely passing in 2011. The proximity of those dates serves to illustrate an important fact; it's impossible to look back on the life of Dwayne McDuffie without also considering his legacy.

Image Publisher Eric Stephenson Urges Comics Industry Not To Repeat Past Mistakes
Eric Stephenson, publisher at Image Comics, has become known in recent years for his speeches at events like Image Expo, which often attempt to rally the comic book industry towards a common goal --- while also reminding people that Image is already achieving that goal, and is therefore the best.
Today at the Tenth Annual ComicsPRO Membership Meeting in Portland, Oregon, Stephenson spoke to the comics retailer community about concerns creators have over the health of the industry, and fears that publishers are chasing short term gain over long term growth.

'Batman v Superman' Gave Alfred a New Backstory and a Particular Set of Skills
While much of Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent's origins remain faithful to well-known iterations of the characters, at least one person's backstory in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is getting a makeover. Zack Snyder has given Batman / Bruce Wayne's loyal butler Alfred a bit of a promotion, upgrading him from devoted servant and caretaker to former British Special Air Service officer with expertise in weapons, vehicles and various other useful skills.

Toy Fair 2016: Kotobukiya Gets Uncanny, Cute and Deadly This Year
For the past few years, Kotobukiya's teamed with Adi Granov for two different Marvel ArtFX+ series. The Marvel Now Avengers was a big enough hit that it spawned a similar wave based on the Uncanny X-Men that launched after the conclusion of the Avengers vs. X-Men event that altered the course of the Marvel Universe until Infinity altered it again, and then Original Sin, and then... you get the idea. There are still three more statues to release in the line, but at least the Uncanny X-Men will finally be united in ArtFX+ form just in time for Marvel's next big summer event to completely wipe them out again, probably. At least this set will let you imagine Wolverine is still alive, and he's got a snazzy Adi Granov design.

Toy Fair 2016: DC Collectibles' Batman: The Animated Series Figures Will Ruin Your Bank Account
A few of the figures were teased prior to the show, including the tremendous new box sets for "Girl's Night Out," "Legends of the Dark Knight," and Batman Beyond. Even in the early stages, all three of these collections look fantastic. Supergirl and Livewire are the only new figures to the "Girl's Night Out" set, but both are welcome. The two characters had great designs on the show, and those come through wonderfully here. The Batman Beyond set comes with some accessories for Terry, including wing attachments, so there's a lot of promise in that set. Both Batman Beyond and "Girl's Night Out" also hint at potential expansions for DC Collectibles' animated figures. Keep those fingers crossed for an Inque and Bruce Timm-inspired Darkseid.

DC Collectibles New Movie Line Uses 3D Sculpting to Bring Silver Screen Characters to Life
The first figures for the line will include a mash-up of Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice characters, all set to arrive in September. Armored Batman and Superman will represent BVS, with Zod, Faora and Jor-El coming from MoS. Now, I know there probably weren't too many people banging at the gates, begging for more Russel Crowe Jor-El figures, but at least his Kryptonian armor makes him a bit more interesting than any potential Kevin Costner Pa Kent would ever be. That's not a big factor in Jor-El's favor, but the guy's gotta take pluses where he can.

Slott and Camuncoli Bring Back Scorpio in 'Amazing Spider-Man' #9 [Preview]
Scorpio is of course an old enemy of the original Nick Fury, and leader of the Zodiac criminal organization (not to be confused with Zodiac Starforce). The original Scorpio was Nick Fury Sr's brother, and later the name was used by Fury's son. So whichever Scorpio this is must be related to Nick Fury Jr somehow, mostly like as an uncle or half-brother. Either way there's sure to be some drama when Nick and Peter catch up to him.

'Batman vs. Superman' Posters Show You Both Sides of the Fight
There are three sides to every fight, but in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice there are only two sides: Justice, and...justice. The Dark Knight and the Man of Steel simply cannot agree on how to properly deliver said justice. It's all a matter of perspective, you know? If that's not clear enough, these new posters for the upcoming superhero showdown illustrate the concept of perspective, showing you the two sides of this fight.

Does Bruce Wayne know any other emotions besides brooding, or any other facial expressions besides "righteous scowl"? Take A Tour Of Belle Reeve With 'New Suicide Squad' #17
With a big-budget movie about their villainous hijinx hitting screens just around the corner, DC seems pretty keen to get people hyped up about the Suicide Squad, and you have to admit that publisher is doing everything it can to get people to jump on. There's the New 52 run ready to go, reprints of the classic '80s series in paperback --- all the way up to the original Deadshot miniseries --- and the next issue of the current New Suicide Squad series sees a new creative team kicking things off with a tour of Belle Reeve prison, so that we can all get on the same page with how this stuff works.
The team in question is Tim Seeley and Juan Ferreyra, and in New Suicide Squad #17, they've hit on a pretty interesting way of explaining the concept for new readers that hasn't actually been done before: Task Force X is franchising. Check out a preview below!

Come on Barbie, Let's Go Party With This New 'Batman V Superman' Batman Doll
Boy, these new Barbie body types are sure getting really specific. I mean, it makes sense for Mattel to attempt to reach a broader, more diverse audience by releasing new Barbies that better match the girls and young women of the world, but aging, rich white dude with trust issues hardly seems like it will strike the right chord. The only thing this might strike is fear into the hearts of criminals.
Though Mattel had announced the full DC Trinity (in their Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice garb) would be getting the Barbie treatment at San Diego Comic-Con last year, the only doll anyone got to see was Wonder Woman. The Amazonian princess certainly looked the part, but nobody really knew what to expect from a potential Batman or Superman at the time. With Toy Fair 2016 right around the corner, and Mattel having a large Barbie and DC Comics presence at the show, it seemed like we might get our first glimpse at the Bruce and Clark Ken dolls in a few weeks. Thanks to Amazon, we no longer have to wait for Batman.

In honor of the caped crusaders of the convention scene, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), an ongoing collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into a super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.
Once Upon a Crime: The '100 Bullets' Game That Almost Happened
At the turn of the millennium, Vertigo published the first handful of issues of 100 Bullets, the hard-boiled neo-noir from Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso. The heavy-handed narrative would take a decade to unfold, with a conspiracy so complex, you basically had to re-read every old issue every time a new issue came out just so you could keep all the twists, turns, changing allegiances, and lies straight. The idea of a video game based on a Vertigo comic seemed completely improbable at the time, and that's not even considering the subject matter, tone and style of 100 Bullets being a better fit for the graphic medium than the virtual one.
Despite the odds being heavily stacked against a 100 Bullets video game, ten years ago it almost actually happened. Thanks in part to the successes of Max Payne and Hitman, both of which proved there was a market for a story like 100 Bullets, Acclaim reached a deal with the comic's creators to develop and publish a video game based on the moody, violent comic. Back in 2003 and 2004, you might remember even seeing advertisements and preview coverage of 100 Bullets in its early stages. But that's as far as 100 Bullets ever made it, and we've never really seen what could have been. That is until PtoPOnline uncovered some of these early prototypes and shared them with the world this week.
