'Gambit' Movie Reportedly Also Eyeing Shane Black and Joe Cornish
The other day a rumor surfaced that Channing Tatum is interested in getting Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman for the Gambit solo movie following Rupert Wyatt’s exit last month. And we can now add two more names to the rumored director pile as a new report suggests that Fox is also eyeing Attack the Block director Joe Cornish and Iron Man 3 director Shane Black — all of these choices would be great, but the longer that director’s chair remains vacant, just about any choice will start to look appealing.

You Can Build Your Own Pikachu Next Year, And By You, I Mean Me
I've never really had the inclination to go into a Build-A-Bear Workshop. To be honest, the whole thing seemed like a hassle, and when I thought back to when I was a kid, I kind of felt like the process of actually making a stuffed animal was probably the least fun part of having a stuffed animal, and paying extra to do it myself felt like it was more than a little bit overpriced. But then they announced that shoppers will have the opportunity to build their own Pikachu, and I realized there was no amount of money I would not pay to make that happen.

'Ant-Man' Director Peyton Reed in Talks to Return for 'Ant-Man and the Wasp'
Just a couple of weeks ago Marvel readjusted their upcoming slate of films, shifting the release dates of Black Panther and Captain Marvel to allow for Ant-Man and the Wasp, the official sequel to this year’s Ant-Man. The Kids Take An Extremely Ill-Advised Field Trip In 'Gotham Academy' #11 [Preview]
It might be a crime-ridden urban hellscape that's frequently destroyed by a murder clown, but the one thing you can say about Gotham City is that it has some great tourist attractions. There's the Crossword Puzzle Museum, the Second National Bank (at the corner of 2nd Street and Second Avenue), and the Ace Chemical Plant/Monarch Playing Card Factory historical site. Any of these destinations would make for a fun and educational field trip.
So of course, that's not at all where the kids from Gotham Academy are going on their first trip into the city. Instead, Olive, Maps and the rest of the gang have decided that they should immediately go into the nearest available blind alley, and I have never been more worried about their safety than I am right now. Check out an exclusive preview of the next issue, Gotham Academy #11, by Brenden Fletcher, Becky Cloonan and Karl Kerschl.

A Good Problem to Have: Hasbro Talks Star Wars Black Series at NYCC [Interview]
There have been Star Wars toys on the shelves at retailers consistently since the mid-1990s. With the re-releases of the classic trilogy and the actual releases of the prequel trilogy, Star Wars has managed to not only stay hot for collectors, but thrive at retail in ways many other toy lines that started in the 1970s could only dream of matching.
This year is a big year for Star Wars movies, in case you hadn't heard. That also means it's a big year for Star Wars collectibles. It's such a big deal in fact, that an entire day, Force Friday, was built around the new toy releases themed around the upcoming sequel, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
With figures from the upcoming film in high demand, it's a wonder the team working on Star Wars at Hasbro has any free time at all. Fortunately, we caught up with Hasbro's Star Wars team after getting a look at some of the new Star Wars Black Series collectibles coming later this year.

'Kamen Rider Ghost' Is The Year's Spookiest New Hero
So here's the good news: If the impending spookiness of Halloween has you in the mood for horror-themed superheroics, Kamen Rider Ghost has finally made its debut. As the latest series in the long-running tokusatsu franchise, Ghost combines all the dirtbikes and jumpkicks that we've come to expect from Kamen Rider with a premise that feels like the Japanese equivalent of Kid Eternity, focusing on Takeru, a young ghost hunter killed in the line of duty, who has to collect the souls of dead heroes so that he can use their power to wish himself back to life.
And here's the bad news: It's only airing in Japan.

74 Years Ago Today: An Anniversary Tribute To America's Not-So-Typical Teenager, Archie Andrews
In the early '40s, the comic book business was booming. Superheroes had lit the fuse on an explosion of a whole new popular medium, and while there were plenty of Superman and Batman knockoffs running around, publishers were finding their footing in other genres, too, from westerns to teen comedies. And on October 15, 1941, when Pep Comics #22 hit newsstands across the country (cover dated December 22), it was that last one that gave comics one of their most enduring, beloved, and important characters.
That character was Archie Andrews, and over the ensuing years he'd rack up one of the most interesting legacies in comics, one that included not only enduring success, but becoming synonymous with an entire genre, taking weird diversions into over-the-top drama and religious proselytizing ---- and becoming one of the very few fictional characters to ever have a #1 single.

The 5,000-Year-Old Man: Robert Venditti Discusses The 'Personal' Story Of 'Wrath of the Eternal Warrior' [Interview]
In the three-plus years since Valiant Comics once again became a mainstay on comic shop shelves, The Eternal Warrior has emerged as a central character in the Valiant Universe, serving as the anchor for several series and events. Since starring in an eight-issue solo series by writer Greg Pak and artist Robert Gill, Gilad, the immortal protector of the geomancers, has taken on even more significance in the Valiant U.
Wrath of the Eternal Warrior, out next month from writer Robert Venditti and artist Raul Allen, puts the de facto star of Book of Death and The Valiant in a whole new set of circumstances, facing down ancient, terrifying creatures in an "off-world" setting. To find out more about the character's strange new situation, we sat down with Venditti to get the scoop on how this strange environment will affect Gilad, the fallout from Book of Death, and writing a very personal story about a 5,000-year-old character.

My friends, we are living in a beautiful Golden Age of comic books about pro wrestling, and if you need evidence of the fact, you need look no further than the upcoming Muscle Temple anthology, currently being funded on Kickstarter.

On The Cheap: Get All Of 'The Losers' For Ten Bucks in Vertigo Sale
This week, Comixology launched a pretty big sale on Vertigo books, and as you might expect, the usual suspects are really well represented. Classics like Preacher and Transmetropolitan, long runs like Y The Last Man and 100 Bullets, a pretty huge chunk of Hellblazer, and even more recent hits like American Vampire and Coffin Hill are all well represented, and really? If you don't have Preacher, then getting the entire series for under thirty bucks is a pretty solid deal.
But way down at the bottom of the list, buried near the end of the "More Great Hits!" section, is an even better one: 32 darn-near perfect issues of Andy Diggle and Jock's The Losers, one of the best action adventure comics of this century, for ten bucks.

Robert Kirkman's Cinemax 'Outcast' Gets Seriously Gross in First Clip
Over the weekend, Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s new Cinemax venture Outcast scared up a fresh trailer for its 2016 debut, but those in attendance of the New York Comic-Con panel were treated to something much more indicative of the show’s creep factor: Gird your stomachs, and have a gander at the unsettling first clip for Robert Kirkman’s Outcast.

Welcome to Wet Moon: Revisiting Sophie Campbell's Graphic Novel Series
Let me put my cards on the table: Sophie Campbell is my favorite comic book artist. She has been at least since the Glory series she did with Joe Keatinge, although I was a fan of her work even before that. I was thrilled when her Jem and Holograms series with Kelly Thompson was announced, and it’s one of my very favorite things on the stands right now.
But my favorite comics work she’s done is Wet Moon, a series of graphic novels from Oni Press, which has been ongoing for over a decade. In Wet Moon, Campbell weaves realism with subtle fantasy and horror elements, and follows a large cast of distinct characters. There are six books currently out, and Campbell has said there are at least two more to come.

'Arrow's Damien Darhk Will Crossover With 'Legends of Tomorrow' and 'The Flash'
We don’t yet have the clearest picture as to how Arrow and Flash spinoff Legends of Tomorrow will interact with its predecessors on a regular basis, given all the time-travel involved, but all three series already have at least one unifying character. Current Arrow baddie Damien Darhk will crop up on both Legends and The Flash, with a timey-wimey twist, per Neal McDonough.

Marvel's 'Luke Cage' Won't Be A Prequel to 'Jessica Jones'
The moment we learned Marvel’s Luke Cage would first appear in Jessica Jones, the question arose as to how the series might interact with one another in telling the former’s origin. Set photos seemingly confirmed Mike Colter’s Cage to already have his powers, so might that mean Luke Cage itself serves as an origin story to the character?
